Compensation

The salary for this role is $120K - $150K. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in (Location). This salary range may also be modified in the future.

 

 

About the Role:

The role will be with Gen IV, an energy investment fund founded in 2015 within LS Power that focusses on expressing its views on the upstream, midstream, downstream and oilfield services sectors through positions in credit, equity and individual commodities.  The commodity business seeks to add an analyst to assist in investing in the North American natural gas space. This person will assist the VP by developing or enhancing fundamental, regional, supply-demand models. The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience within the energy investing or data analytics industry and an interest in working on an investment team that requires significant strategic thought and entrepreneurial opportunities. The individual position is expected to grow from pure modeling focus to eventually contribute to market analytics.  Additionally, the role will also work with the broader group to support overall team investments.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Build, develop and enhance quantitative models that forecast fundamental supply and demand components of the North American and global natural gas markets
  • Simplify and automate existing processes, interact with and assess vendor data
  • Conduct research to support model validity and efficacy, have sense of ownership of models they develop
  • Perform ad hoc analysis directed by SVP
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and effectively manage time and deliverables without continuous supervision
  • Interest in industry and willingness to take on increased responsibilities within the team

Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in a technical field (computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering). Course work in Economics and Finance is a plus.
    • GPA 3.75+
  • Have demonstrated capabilities of programming languages (Python, R)
  • Have work experience within commodities industry, preferably in a trading environment
