About the Role:

LS Power is seeking a Manager, Project Development who will have day-to-day responsibility for developing a portfolio of hyperscale data center projects and associated infrastructure. Responsibilities would include project conceptualization, site selection/acquisition/diligence, project design and engineering management, public relations, stakeholder management, environmental/regulatory permitting, utility interface, contract negotiations, and oversight of internal and external resources and activities to ensure project advancement. An ideal candidate is one who is willing to dig into, and ultimately take responsibility for, all facets of multiple development projects at once

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Manage development of greenfield and brownfield data center projects and associated infrastructure through to start of construction
  • Prepare presentations related to current projects, new opportunities, and key focus areas
  • Evaluate business cases and estimate capital costs, returns, schedules, budgets, and cashflows
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with electric utilities and lead projects through the interconnection process
  • Identify and manage third-party engineers and consultants that will support the project’s development
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with local, state, and federal permitting and regulatory agencies
  • Collaborate with internal resources, external consultants, utility contacts and OEMs to achieve various project milestones
  • Make recommendations to senior management with respect to development spend and opportunities to maximize project value

 

Qualifications

We want you on our team because you…

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering, business, environmental science or a related field
  • Have approximately 5 years’ experience in developing utility scale infrastructure projects, where individual projects have a capital investment requirement in excess of $500 million
  • Understand Project Finance and have experience modeling project cashflows
  • Are highly organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful
  • Have developed and managed project development budgets and spend
  • Have experience preparing, negotiating and closing commercial agreements including development agreements, real estate agreements, consulting and professional services agreements, interconnection agreements, etc.
  • Have project management experience with an ability to drive a schedule forward and avoid delays
  • Have a professional interest in understanding and working on projects across a variety of technology platforms
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Excel, as well as GIS
  • Have an independent work ethic with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Are an analytical, solutions-focused team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across a diverse team
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Ideally you also have..

  • Experience working at a hyperscale data center end-user, infrastructure developer, or an engineering firm supporting large-scale data centers or other infrastructure projects
  • Technical expertise across a variety of technologies, including data centers, gas-fired power generation, water treatment, battery energy storage systems, electric transmission systems, and/or carbon capture and sequestration
  • Experience reviewing or developing single line diagrams and other engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of the power generation and electric utility industries, transmission tariffs, interconnection processes, energy and capacity markets, and ISO/RTO functions and operations
  • Successfully completed land acquisition and environmental due diligence activities
  • Experience working with ERCOT or PJM
