About the Role:

We currently have an opportunity for a Payroll Analyst/Lead to join our team in East Brunswick, NJ. In this role, you will ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing while working closely with human resources, external consultants, auditors, and other stakeholders. You will identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and optimize payroll operations.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Process payroll data and manage updates, including direct deposit, tax withholdings, and garnishments.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records.
  • Generate and analyze ADP reports for payroll and HR functions.
  • Finalize and fund payroll processes while maintaining the annual payroll calendar.
  • Address and resolve employee payroll inquiries.
  • Assist with the annual workers’ compensation payroll audit.
  • Communicate address changes to Payroll and HR teams.

Timecard Processing Responsibilities:

  • Audit timekeeping records for compliance.
  • Send payroll schedule reminders and ensure approvals before processing.
  • Verify vacation, personal/wellness, and floating holiday entries.
  • Ensure accurate overtime calculations and proper time coding.
  • Process non-system time sheets and provide new hire timecard instructions.
  • Troubleshoot and support employees with timecard-related inquiries.

Accounting and Financial Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries for payroll transactions.
  • Work with accounting to update reports and provide necessary data.

401(k) Administration:

  • Maintain audit spreadsheets and process employer contributions.
  • Conduct the annual 401(k) audit and assist with 5500 filing.

Year-End Processing:

  • Support year-end payroll activities, including master control reviews.
  • Review W-2s, process corrections, and finalize payrolls.
  • Process year-end bonuses.

Qualifications

We want you on our team because you…

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Have 4+ years of payroll experience, including multi-site/multistate payroll processing.
  • Possess strong knowledge and experience with ADP Workforce Now and Time & Attendance.
  • Have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Are self-motivated, results-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Have strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Have excellent organizational skills with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Have in-depth understanding of payroll tax regulations, including Federal, FICA, State, and Local withholdings.
  • Have knowledge of 401(k) rules and regulations.
  • Possess strong financial and analytical acumen.
  • Have strategic thinking skills with a focus on process automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Are a team player, collaborative, and passionate about optimizing business performance.

Ideally, you also have

  • Payroll or HR certification (CPP, PHR, and/or SHRM-CP).
