About the Role:

LS Power is seeking a Business Manager to provide guidance, support and oversight for one or more multiple transmission utilities in operations within the western U.S. The Business Manager will use both technical and commercial knowledge to support the day-to-day oversight of transmission utility businesses, including budgeting, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder coordination (internal and external).  The Business Manager will have support from and collaborate with subject matter experts across the functional groups supporting the business including operations, maintenance, planning, compliance, accounting, regulatory, and rates.  This position will report to the Director, with exposure to all facets of the business

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Support the operation of the transmission business.
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor annual budgets.
  • Develop policies, strategies, and programs to support business objectives.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend asset strategy projects and long-term plans.
  • Develop and manage relationships with third-party O&M providers.
  • Manage and mitigate asset related business risk and opportunities.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on commercial agreements and ensure compliance of contract and other asset obligations.
  • Understand and apply industry standards, applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Management of small capital projects or business initiatives.
  • Assist with asset integration for new projects / entities in the LS Power family of companies.
  • Assist with and support new business development initiatives as directed by management.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) from an accredited university.

  • Bring at least 5 years of experience in transmission maintenance, operations, or planning, ideally within the electric utility industry.

  • Have a working knowledge of regulated utilities, including familiarity with NERC compliance obligations (preferred).

  • Have experience managing transmission or substation projects and overseeing consultants, contractors, or O&M activities related to transmission/substation assets (preferred).

  • Have experience working in the CAISO or WECC region (preferred).

  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.

  • Possess a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership and a team-oriented mindset—balancing individual responsibilities while fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
