Compensation

The salary for this role is $145,000 - $165,000. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.

 

About the Role:

As the Associate/Senior Associate, you will be responsible for supporting the finance team in raising debt and equity capital to ensure adequate funding of the LS Power Grid (“LSPG”) business through a period of rapid growth in many different U.S. power market regions.  You will work closely with the senior LS Power finance team members, the LSPG development team, and LS Power’s existing legal, regulatory, accounting, tax, and treasury functions.

 

As the Associate/Senior Associate, you should have experience in power or energy industries, and a background in capital markets or principal investing, as well as an interest in the energy transition. Familiarity with FERC or State rate-regulated business models is preferred.


The position is located in LS Power’s office in New York NY.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Transaction Execution: Secure third-party debt and equity capital to support future investment in assets and business growth.
  • High-Level Analysis: Conduct complex financial analyses and modeling to support executive-level decision-making.
    • Work closely with the LSPG development team to understand asset-level details, key asset operational risks, commercial commitments, construction risks and timelines, and cost-of-service ratemaking.
    • Prepare and maintain complex financial modeling to project liquidity and cash needs of LSPG and its subsidiary companies.
  • Project Management: Lead finance-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time to support new capital raises, state- and federal-ratemaking activities, strategic partnerships, and other processes critical for a $4bn+ rate-regulated group of companies.
  • Managerial Responsibilities: Oversee and mentor junior associates, providing guidance and support to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of their work, and assist with their professional development.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate financial insights and recommendations to senior management. Coordinate with third party lenders, ratings agencies, investors, and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Independent Discretion: Make decisions independently based on experience and expertise, ensuring alignment with the company's financial goals and strategies.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and manage financial risks through persistent cross-functional coordination.

Qualifications

  • Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field of study
  • Have a minimum of 3 - 4 years of experience across infrastructure- and energy-related deal execution, preferably at a large financial institution or corporation
  • Have demonstrated transaction experience leading financial modeling, investment and/or credit underwriting processes, and management of investor/creditor due diligence processes
  • Possess sector-specific knowledge of risk management and credit mitigants
  • Have strong analytic, modeling, and fundamental research skills
  • Are able to work on a number of simultaneous projects with minimal supervision and exemplary follow-through

Ideally you will also have…

  • Familiarity with ratings agency project finance and utility corporate methodologies
  • Knowledge and experience with a utility cost-of-service ratemaking framework
