About the Role:

LS Power is seeking experienced Construction Managers to oversee and manage construction activities for high-voltage underground transmission line projects. The Construction Manager is a full-time, site-based role that serves as the primary point of contact for all field-related activities, ensuring that contractors meet technical, commercial, and safety requirements while delivering projects on time and within budget.

This role provides leadership across the construction lifecycle—including pre-construction, logistics, material management, construction, inspection, compliance monitoring, permitting, safety, and quality oversight. The Construction Manager will coordinate with EPC leadership, field-based contractors, utilities, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.

Positions are currently available for projects in California (South San Francisco Bay Area) with mobilization in March 2026.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Lead all field-related services during project execution, including pre-construction planning, construction management, quality control, safety oversight, and permit compliance.
  • Manage contractors in accordance with project budgets, schedules, technical requirements, and contractual provisions.
  • Mitigate commercial or field-related issues promptly and escalate as needed to the EPC Lead or T-Line/Substation Lead.
  • Coordinate and manage interfaces among multiple field-based stakeholders, including contractors, inspectors, field engineers, compliance monitors, material suppliers, utilities and regulatory representatives. Manage LS Power field-based Inspectors and Field Engineers.
  • Ensure contractors maintain compliance with all project requirements—including safety, environmental, permit, and quality standards.
  • Oversee field documentation management, including RFIs, issue logs, drawings, SWPPP compliance records, and safety reports.
  • Review and track contractor schedules and maintain an integrated construction schedule, incorporating three-week look-aheads and interface coordination.
  • Participate in weekly construction coordination meetings and monthly status updates with all project stakeholders.
  • Prepare daily field reports.
  • Manage and report on progress, costs, risks, and opportunities throughout construction and commissioning.
  • Ensure all required construction, testing, and commissioning documentation is organized and properly filed to support commercial closeout, warranty management, and turnover to Operations.

Qualifications

We want you on our team because you…

  • Bring 10+ years of experience managing large-scale, high-voltage transmission or substation construction projects for utilities or EPC contractors.
  • Hold a strong understanding of power delivery codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Possess an OSHA 30-hour certification (required).
  • Are an effective communicator and leader who can coordinate multiple contractors and stakeholders across complex projects.
  • Have proven experience managing contractors, schedules, field documentation, and commercial performance.
  • Excel in fast-paced, field-driven environments and take a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
  • Are highly organized and committed to safety, quality, and accountability.
  • Are willing to travel or be based at project sites as needed.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

Candidates must be able to access all work areas on active construction sites, travel along project transmission line routes, use digital tools for reporting, and work with standard MS Office software. This role also requires performing tasks common to field management in a construction environment.
