About the Role:

We are currently looking for a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join our team in St. Louis, MO. As the Sr. Transmission Line Engineer, you will support the power delivery development, construction, and operations team; provide technical support for new and existing assets; determine low-cost solutions to construct new projects; develop project cost/schedule estimates; and manage contracts to safely and efficiently engineer, procure, and construct the projects.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Support bid solicitations and project development with knowledge of transmission line engineering, procurement, and construction.  
  • Employ a strong understanding of overhead and/or underground high voltage transmission line design including applicable industry codes, standard and guidelines.
  • Hold a general understanding of substation design and transmission line construction practices.
  • Use PLS-CADD to model transmission lines to support accurate project cost estimates.
  • Evaluate engineering, procurement and construction factors that lead to low-cost solutions in a highly competitive environment.  These factors include routing, conductor selection, structure and foundation types, environmental issues and construction means and methods.
  • Develop the engineering, procurement and construction scope and technical requirements to incorporate into contracts.
  • Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs), manage bid processes, complete bid evaluations and make recommendations for award.
  • Manage engineering, procurement and construction contracts.
  • Perform review of contractor-provided submittals including specifications, designs, drawings, change notices, requests for information, etc.

Qualifications

We want you on our team because you…

  • Have a BS in Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering with 7 or more years of power industry experience.  Overhead high voltage transmission line experience is required as well as proficiency with the Power Line Systems suite of programs. Underground high voltage transmission line experience is highly desired.
  • Have working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
  • Are able to work effectively as a team member, both internally and with external consultants and contractors.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally across teams, both in the office and in the field.
  • Excel at managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Take ownership and achieve goals by engaging in and advancing a collaborative, solutions-focused culture.
  • Are willing to travel to project sites as needed.

 

Ideally, you will also: 

  • Either hold or intend to pursue Professional Engineering license.
  • Have high voltage overhead/underground transmission line and substation engineering experience.
