Compensation

The salary for this role is $140,000 - $160,000. This is the rate that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New Jersey.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.

 

About the Role:

The Origination & Valuation Associate will play a key role supporting LS Power’s Generation Development group by providing analytical insight and commercial support for new power generation projects. This includes financial analysis to inform investment decisions, bid development in response to RFPs, and commercial activities to advance projects through development.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Build and maintain financial models for generation development opportunities, including net present value, internal rate of return, MOIC, projected cash flows, sell cases, and cost‑benefit analyses.
  • Support the execution of project‑level and corporate financings, as well as M&A transactions.
  • Assess market entry opportunities for new development initiatives.
  • Manage proposal planning and preparation, including understanding bid requirements, selecting resources, developing budgets, and managing schedules and SME inputs.
  • Develop competitive proposals, including gathering intelligence, contributing to bid strategy and pricing, and preparing submission materials.
  • Manage post‑bid requests, bid revisions, and post‑award requirements.
  • Prepare reporting materials for senior management and develop marketing materials as needed.
  • Support the origination of offtake arrangements and assist in negotiating power purchase agreements or similar revenue contracts.
  • Conduct industry and company research related to technology costs, regulatory and economic trends, and the evolution of PTC/ITC rules.

Qualifications

  • Have advanced proficiency in spreadsheets and financial analysis tools, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Are fluent in large language models and other AI tools used to accelerate analysis and improve work product.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills, and can work effectively across teams and levels.

Ideally, you have…

  • 2–4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A conceptual understanding of the power sector, including gas‑fired generation, renewables, power markets, and common financing structures (debt and/or tax equity).
